PM receives RMIT University President Cameron

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on April 7 received Alec Cameron, President for RMIT University who is in Hanoi for a working visit to Vietnam.

Chinh spoke highly of the positive development of the Vietnam - Australia strategic partnership as well as the effective cooperation between the two countries, including in education and training.

He reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policy of considering education and training a top national policy and expressed desires to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field.

RMIT University Vietnam is Australia’s largest investor in Vietnam and the largest foreign investor in education at present, Chinh told his guest.

He congratulated RMIT University on having operated effectively in Vietnam for more than 20 years, contributing to improving people’s knowledge and training qualified human resources for the country.

For his part, Professor Alec Cameron thanked the Government of Vietnam for facilitating RMIT University’s operations over the years and vowed to further increase cooperation with Vietnam.

He shared about RMIT University Vietnam’s upcoming development plan, saying RMIT University plans to increase its investment capital by an additional US$100 million in Vietnam and the region.

PM Chinh welcomed RMIT University’s development plan and said the Government of Vietnam creates favourable conditions for foreign investors, including RMIT University, to operate in Vietnam.  

He expected that RMIT University would continue to develop strongly, becoming a model to attract more Australian businesses to invest in Vietnam in the future.

The Government leader suggested that RMIT and Australia increase scholarships for Vietnamese students, contributing to training high quality human resources for Vietnam and the region.
