PM receives newly-accredited Pakistani ambassador in Hanoi
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received newly accredited Ambassador of Pakistan to Vietnam Kohdayar Marri in Hanoi on February 7.
Chinh praised the Ambassador for his efforts in promoting Vietnam-Pakistan cooperation, especially in culture, arts, and religion, which he said help to enhance mutual understanding between the two countries.
He emphasized that both Vietnam and Pakistan have significant potential for cooperation that should be actively tapped to bring bilateral relations to a more practical level, contributing to peace, stability, and cooperation between South Asia and Southeast Asia, as well as the broader Asia-Pacific and Indian Ocean regions.
The PM suggested that the Ambassador act as a bridge between ministries, localities, and businesses of the two countries to promote delegation exchanges and resume bilateral cooperation mechanisms, with priority given to the Joint Trade Commission.
He encouraged both sides to strengthen economic, trade, and investment cooperation, leverage their respective advantages and strive to increase two-way trade to over US$1 billion in the near future. Furthermore, he proposed expanding cooperation in culture, education and training, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
Marri for his part expressed his honour to take on his new role in Vietnam and pledged to do his utmost to deepen the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Pakistan for mutual benefit.
The Ambassador noted that many Pakistani businesses are increasingly interested in the Vietnamese market. He expressed his desire to increase local and business connectivity between the two countries and to implement diverse forms of cooperation while enhancing the promotion of each country’s culture, people, landscapes, and famous heritage sites.
