VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Katerina Konecna, chairwoman of the Communist Party of Bohemia-Moravia in Prague on January 18 (local time) as part of his ongoing visit to the Czech Republic at the invitation of Prime Minister Petr Fiala.
Chinh thanked the state, people, and political parties of the Czech Republic, especially the Communist Party of Bohemia-Moravia, for their consistent support and solidarity with Vietnam throughout its past struggle for national independence and reunification, and in the current process of national construction and defense.
He affirmed that Vietnam highly values and seeks to strengthen the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with the Czech Republic as part of its overall foreign policy.
He also emphasized the importance of fostering solidarity among the Czech people and political parties to contribute to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in both regions and globally.
Chinh introduced the Communist Party of Vietnam’s policy of advancing relations with ruling parties worldwide, as well as with Communist and left-wing parties, and suggested that the two parties enhance information sharing, exchange delegations, and promote mutual understanding and political trust. He encouraged discussions on theoretical and practical issues, as well as party-building and development efforts.
He expressed hope that the Communist Party of Czech-Moravia would continue to support Vietnam in its socialist construction and national defense efforts, while also strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries.
On this occasion, the PM requested that the Communist Party of Bohemia-Moravia support Czech authorities in creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic to contribute more positively to local society and serve as a bridge of friendship between the Vietnamese and Czech peoples.
He also requested that, as a member of the European Parliament, Konecna advocate for the remaining EU countries to ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and push for the European Commission to lift the IUU yellow card against Vietnamese seafood exported into the bloc.
Konecna for her part expressed her delight at the continuously growing relationship between the two countries over the past 75 years. She congratulated Vietnam on its significant achievements, and affirmed that Vietnam serves as an exemplary model for the Communist Party of Bohemia-Moravia to learn from.
Konecna reaffirmed her support for Czech policies toward Vietnam and pledged to actively strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of Bohemia-Moravia.
She emphasized her commitment to fostering deeper, more effective relations across all fields, benefiting the people of both countries and contributing to peace, cooperation, and development in both regions and globally.
Konecna stated she would arrange to visit Vietnam soon at the invitation of Party General Secretary To Lam. She agreed with Chinh’s proposals and pledged to support Vietnam in all possible ways, including expediting the ratification of the EVIPA and resolving the IUU yellow card issue for Vietnamese seafood.
