PM lauds HSBC long-term operation strategy in Vietnam

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, while receiving Mark Tucker, chairman of the Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Holding plc in Hanoi on August 2, hailed the bank’s commitment to operating in the long-term in Vietnam, contributing to the country’s socio-economic development.

Chinh said he was happy that HSBC Vietnam has been operating efficiently, forming strategic partnerships with many corporations, companies and enterprises in both public and private sectors in the country.

HSBC regularly engages in policy dialogues and consultations with management agencies, helping to perfect the banking legal system in Vietnam, he noted.

The PM highly appreciated HSBC’s commitment to arranging capital up to US$12 billion for sustainable development projects till 2030 in Vietnam, and expected that the bank would actively support Vietnam in effectively disbursing this source of capital, helping the country fulfill its climate change commitments and realize sustainable development goals.

The Vietnamese government hopes that HSBC will continue to arrange international credit sources for energy transformation and low-carbon economic development, and at the same time support the country in digital transformation, especially in the banking sector, he said.

Mark Tucker for his part briefed his host on HSBC’s global operations and strategy as well as its long-term commitments in Vietnam, along with the implementation of the bank’s sustainable credit and green credit programmes in the country.

He proposed that the Prime Minister direct ministries, agencies and localities to create favourable conditions and cooperate closely with HSBC to operation efficiently in Vietnam for the sake of win-win cooperation.
