PM hosts Japanese Finance Minister in Hanoi

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on January 13 received Japanese Minister of Finance Shunichi Suzuki who is in Hanoi for a visit to Vietnam.

Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always considers Japan an important and long-term strategic partner, and that it supports Japan to actively contribute to peace, cooperation and development in the region and the wider world.

He expressed his delight to see Japan continues to be the leading economic cooperation partner of Vietnam, the number 1 bilateral ODA provider, the second largest labour cooperation partner, the third largest investor, and the fourth largest trade partner. Japan has funded many projects in Vietnam, with the Japanese Ministry of Finance playing an important role in this process.

He assured his guest Vietnam will continue to encourage and create favourable conditions for Japanese enterprises to do business effectively in the country. Relevant agencies are working on some Japanese-invested projects to iron out snags for investors.

He requested that the Japanese Government support Vietnam in surveying and building the North-South high-speed rail track, restructuring capital at Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical LLC, and giving advice to Vietnam regarding digital transformation in financial related fields such as customs, corporate bond market, and stock market.

Minister Suzuki for his part informed his host on the results of his earlier talks with Vietnamese Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc, saying both sides had agreed to further promote cooperation in the field of infrastructure development, among others.

He acknowledged Chinh’s proposals and said the Japanese side will coordinate with relevant Vietnamese agencies to come up with the most feasible solution as soon as possible.
