PM hails Vietnamese expatriates’ contributions to fatherland

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on November 4 hailed overseas Vietnamese’s significant contributions to the fatherland and encouraged the expatriates to help promote the friendship and cooperation between their host countries and Vietnam.

Meeting with representatives of Vietnamese expatriates in Paris on November 4, Chinh was pleased to see that despite their difficulties overseas, Vietnamese nationals unite and assist each other in their daily life while turning their hearts to the homeland through fundraising campaigns for the needy.

The Party and State consider Vietnamese overseas an indispensable part of the Vietnamese nation, stressed the PM, referring to Politburo resolutions and conclusions on overseas Vietnamese affairs.

He said that while hold talks and meetings with European leaders during his current European tour he has requested them to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese nationals to stay, work, and study in their host countries.

He thanked the expatriates’ contributions back to national development, as well as to the country’s natural disasters prevention, climate change response and epidemic control.

Representatives of overseas Vietnamese in European countries briefed Chinh on their activities in Europe and expressed their belief in the Party’s future development orientations.

They proposed that the Party, State and ministries remove obstacles in investment procedures and create better conditions for Vietnamese expatriates to return to the fatherland and contribute to national development.

The Government leader said he will direct relevant ministries to examine their requests so as to facilitate their activities in the homeland. He also encouraged overseas Vietnamese associations to pay more attention to the teaching of Vietnamese language as a means of preserving and promoting Vietnamese tradition overseas.

PM Pham Minh Chinh is in Paris for an official visit to France from November 3-5 at the invitation of Jean Castex.
