PM Cruz pledges to facilitate Vietnamese business operations in Cuba
VOV.VN - The government seeks to facilitate Vietnamese business operations in Cuba, bringing benefits to businesses and people of both countries and contributing to Cuba’s socio-economic development, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz told Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang in Havana on April 15 (local time).
Meeting with Quang in Havana, Cruz welcomed his visit, which he said creates a source of encouragement for Cuba. Recalling good impressions during his visit to Vietnam in September 2022, Cruz highly appreciated Vietnam’s great and comprehensive renovation achievements, and affirmed that Cuba always wishes to further deepen the special traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperation with Vietnam.
Quang for his part conveyed Vietnamese leaders’ greetings to the Cuban PM and affirmed that Vietnam always pays attention to the situation and shares with Cuba the successes as well as difficulties and challenges during its cause of national construction and defense.
Vietnam will continue to accompany and support Cuba within its capability, said the Deputy PM, adding Vietnam protests and calls for an end to blockade and embargo against Cuba.
He informed his host about the outcome of his meetings with Cuban leaders and business CEOs, especially the results of the 41st session of the Vietnam – Cuba Intergovernmental Committee that worked out directions and measures to further increase comprehensive, substantive and effective cooperation.
He also appreciated the two sides effectively promoting existing cooperation mechanisms, making efforts to ramp up economic, trade and investment cooperation, including supporting the operations of businesses of the two countries, and effectively deploying agricultural cooperation projects, contributing to ensuring food security in Cuba.
Meanwhile, the Cuban Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for Vietnam’s support through the stable supply of commercial rice to Cuba and the development of food production in the Caribbean nation. He highly appreciated Vietnam’s role as the largest investor in the Asia-Pacific region in Cuba and the second largest investor in the Mariel Special Development Zone.
Cruz proposed that the two Governments further strengthen coordination in implementing high-level agreements reached as well as the results of the 41st session of the Vietnam – Cuba Intergovernmental Committee. He expected that Vietnam would continue to encourage its businesses to increase investment in Cuba.
