PM calls for enhanced Vietnam – Nepal economic ties
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with his Nepalese counterpart Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli in Tianjin, China, on August 31, emphasising the importance of strengthening the traditional friendship and expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, and investment.
Meeting the Nepalese PM on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2025, PM Chinh thanked Nepal and Prime Minister Oli personally for their support of Vietnam during its historical struggle for national liberation and in the country’s ongoing development, highlighting the deep respect the Nepalese people hold for President Ho Chi Minh.
He underscored the need to further enhance bilateral cooperation and proposed increasing exchanges at all levels. He reaffirmed Vietnam’s readiness to support the training of Nepalese officials and civil servants, while requesting Nepal’s support for major Vietnamese enterprises, including Viettel, in exploring investment and business opportunities in the country.

Prime Minister Oli, for his part, expressed his admiration for President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic Vietnamese people, recalling that he had participated in demonstrations supporting Vietnam against unjust colonial wars since his youth. He praised Vietnam’s rapid and remarkable development since the liberation of the South and the country’s reunification in 1975, and said Nepal wishes to learn from Vietnam’s successful experiences in national construction and development.
Both Prime Ministers expressed their desire to further consolidate the traditional friendship and good cooperation nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries over the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations. Highlighting shared historical, cultural, and socialist-oriented development values, they agreed to continue promoting exchanges at all levels, especially high-level visits, and to advance agreements on trade, investment, and other areas, aiming to develop bilateral relations in line with the potential and aspirations of both countries.
They also reaffirmed their determination to enhance cooperation in culture, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, environmental protection, and climate change response, while supporting each other at regional and international forums.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Oli cordially invited Prime Minister Chinh to visit Nepal soon, and the invitation was accepted with pleasure. PM Chinh also respectfully invited Prime Minister Oli to visit Vietnam in the near future.
