Party leader To Lam meets with Vietnames expatriates in RoK
VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and Vietnamese expatriates in the Republic of Korea (RoK), in Seoul on August 10 as part of his ongoing state visit to the RoK at the invitation of President Lee Jae-myung.
The General Secretary expressed his joy at meeting a large number of compatriots, acknowledging their continuous efforts and contributions to preserving and promoting Vietnamese cultural identity abroad, as well as fostering the development of Vietnam – RoK relations. He reaffirmed that the Vietnamese community is an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation.
The leader said the visit marks the first high-level delegation from Vietnam to the RoK since President Lee Jae-myung took office, helping to shape and elevate bilateral relations to a new stage of development. He revealed that in upcoming meetings with senior Korean leaders, he would propose that the Korean government create the most favourable conditions for the approximately 300,000 Vietnamese people living and working there to have stable lives and make more practical contributions to the two countries’ relations in this new era.
He informed the community about the country’s outstanding achievements across all sectors, especially major policies and orientations of the Party and State aimed at confidently stepping into the new era. He requested the Vietnamese Embassy to collect and report community feedback on issues related to nationality, and identification papers, while encouraging overseas Vietnamese to engage in scientific research and contribute to the country.
He also affirmed that relevant ministries and agencies would be directed to implement suitable and thorough solutions for these matters.
Prior to the meeting, General Secretary To Lam attended the inauguration ceremony of the statue of President Ho Chi Minh on the premises of the Vietnamese Embassy in the RoK. This monument is not only a cultural and artistic work but also a vivid symbol of the deep friendship and strong bond between the peoples of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.
