Party leader values vital role of Korea-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group
VOV.VN - General Secretary To Lam highly values the role of the friendship parliamentary groups between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) and hopes that both sides will work closely to promote multifaceted cooperation, especially as the two countries enter a new stage of development.

Receiving Ahn Gyu-back, Chairman of the Korea - Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group in Seoul on August 10, General Secretary To Lam congratulated Ahn on his appointment as the RoK’s Minister of National Defence, and expressed confidence that with his new responsibility and as Chairman of the Korea - Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group, Ahn would continue to contribute actively to promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in a more substantive and effective manner.
The General Secretary emphasised that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the RoK has developed well across all fields. Cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments, along with the longstanding friendly exchanges and close ties between the two Friendship Parliamentary Groups, have played an important role in the comprehensive development of bilateral relations.
Vietnam wishes to strengthen cooperation with the Republic of Korea, one of its most important strategic partners, said the Party leader.
He proposed that the two Friendship Parliamentary Groups enhance exchanges and cooperation and promote their role as bridges in accordance with the cooperation agreement between the two parliaments. This will help supervise, urge, and facilitate the legal conditions for implementing signed agreements and treaties, thereby forge the Vietnam – RoK cooperation relationship toward deeper, more effective, and sustainable development.
At the same time, both sides need to increase coordination and mutual support at regional and global inter-parliamentary forums. The General Secretary also sincerely thanked and hoped that the Korean National Assembly would continue to support joint activities of the Vietnamese community in the RoK.
For his part, Ahn affirmed that both sides need to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership as the two countries enter a new phase of development. The Korean parliament and the Korea - Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group are ready to accompany Vietnamese partners to achieve development goals in this new era and committed to closely coordinating to promote cooperation between the two parliaments, including exchanges between the two Friendship Parliamentary Groups. He also emphasised that the RoK would continue to support Vietnamese students studying in the RoK.
Based on the remarkable development of relations over more than 30 years and the cultural similarities, both sides agreed to continue strengthening cooperation in various fields such as politics and diplomacy, defence and security, culture, sports, and especially science and technology as a pillar of future cooperation.

The same day, General Secretary To Lam met with about 100 delegates representing organisations, businesses, and individuals from the RoK active in Vietnam.
He expressed his pleasure at the multi-sector cooperation between the two countries and acknowledged the important role of the Korean community in Vietnam, with over 200,000 people living and working there, contributing positively to Vietnam’s development. He thanked Korean friends for their support and emphasised the desire to strengthen cooperation, promote peace and stability in the region.
On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam awarded the Friendship Order to Chang Ho-ick, Chairman of the Association of Koreans who love Vietnam, in recognition of his contributions to cultural, educational, economic, and humanitarian exchanges between the two peoples.
