To Lam welcomed the outcomes of the Speaker’s October 23 talks with Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Tran Thanh Man and praised the effective cooperation between the two countries’ legislatures in lawmaking, oversight and decision making. He expressed confidence that Malaysia’s ASEAN chairmanship in 2025 would help build a peaceful, stable, cooperative, and prosperous Southeast Asia.

Speaker Tan Sri Dato’ Johari bin Abdul shared his positive impressions of Vietnam’s people and culture, and commended the country’s significant achievements in socio-economic development and anti-corruption efforts. He emphasized that Malaysia, as ASEAN Chair in 2025, would strive to contribute to building a prosperous ASEAN Community.

He expressed Malaysia’s desire to closely cooperate with Vietnam to enhance friendship, peace, stability, and development in Southeast Asia while elevating ASEAN’s role and status in the region.

At the meeting, To Lam emphasized the importance of fostering effective bilateral cooperation amid today’s complex global landscape. The Party leader also underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation in defense and security, crime prevention, and maritime issues to maintain peace and stability, particularly in the East Sea.

He took the occasion to thank Malaysia for supporting the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working there and asked for continued support in the future.
