Party chief To Lam returns to Hanoi after Cambodia state visit

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam returned to Hanoi late on February 6, concluding a state visit to Cambodia that featured high-level party-to-party meetings and agreements to deepen political trust, security cooperation and economic connectivity between the two neighbours.

During the visit, the Party leader co-chaired a high-level meeting between the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Standing Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), and a separate trilateral meeting with the leaders of the ruling parties of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

He also held talks with Cambodian Senate President and CPP leader Hun Sen, paid courtesy calls on Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, and attended the signing and exchange of cooperation documents.

The Vietnamese leader laid wreaths at Cambodia’s Independence Monument, the Norodom Sihanouk Memorial and the Cambodia–Vietnam Friendship Monument, and attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the Cambodia–Vietnam Friendship School in Phnom Penh.

At the meetings, the two sides agreed to strengthen political relations as the guiding pillar of bilateral ties, enhance coordination in maintaining political stability and security, and step up economic linkages between Vietnam and Cambodia.

The Party leader also visited the Vietnamese embassy in Phnom Penh and met representatives of the Vietnamese community in Cambodia.
