New Zealand Foreign Minister invited to visit Vietnam
VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Vietnam Pham Binh Minh invited New Zealand Foreign Minister Nanaia Mahuta to visit Hanoi during their phone talks on March 10.
Both sides expressed their satisfaction of the positive and extensive development of the Vietnam-New Zealand Strategic Partnership established in July 2020.
Mahuta congratulated Vietnam on the success of the freshly-concluded 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, as well as its success in the position of the ASEAN Chairmanship 2020 and a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2020-2021. She also highly valued the achievement that Vietnam has recorded in implementing the dual goal of coronavirus prevention and economic recovery.
For his part, Minh congratulated New Zealand on its successful control of the COVID-19 pandemic, and expressed his belief that New Zealand will be one of the leading countries in realizing the target of disease prevention and economic recovery.
The two sides agreed to enhance the role of their foreign ministries in promoting cooperation between the two countries, including increasing exchanges and high-level contacts when conditions allow, while boosting two-way investment and boosting the efficiency of the Vietnam – New Zealand Joint Commission for Economic and Trade Cooperation.
They agreed to soon develop and sign an action plan for implementing the Vietnam - New Zealand Strategic Partnership in 2021, strengthening ODA cooperation, and realizing the action programme on defense cooperation for 2018-2021.
They stressed the need to rev up linkages between schools and universities of the two countries, continue scholarship programmes, restore tourism cooperation, and promote people-to-people exchange.
The two sides consented to collaborate closely at multilateral forums, including providing mutual support for election and candidacy for UN bodies as well as implementing the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTTP) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh affirmed that Vietnam will work closely with New Zealand to successfully implement the APEC Year 2021.
