National Assembly leader begins Cambodia visit

VOV.VN -National Assembly chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and his entourage arrived in Phnom Penh on November 19, beginning an official visit to Cambodia and attending the 43 General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) from November 19-22.

They were welcomed at Pochentong airport by first vice chairman of the Cambodian National Assembly Cheam Yeap and many other ranking official of the Cambodia National Assembly.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang, embassy staff, and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Cambodia were also on hand.

Their visit to Cambodia aims to implement the foreign policy adopted at the 13th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, in which priority is given to developing relations with neighboring countries and other ASEAN countries.

Diverse activities of parliamentary diplomacy in 2022 are expected to contribute to promoting and deepening Vietnam’s relations with other countries. They also demonstrate the active role and responsibility of the National Assembly of Vietnam at multilateral and bilateral parliamentary forums, as well as in accompanying and supporting the Government in COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control and economic recovery.

The chairman of the Vietnam National Assembly is scheduled to hold talks with his Cambodian counterpart on November 18, and they will both witness the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two legislative bodies.

After the visit, the Vietnamese National Assembly delegation will attend the AIPA-43 General Assembly and meet partners participating in the meeting.
