NA leader hosts Lao, Cambodian officials
VOV.VN - National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on October 21 received the heads of the Foreign Affairs Committees of the Lao and Cambodian National Assemblies who are in Vietnam for a consultation conference to prepare for a summit of the legislative leaders of the three countries.
The Lao National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee was led by Sanya Praseuth, head of the committee, while the Committee for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Cambodian National Assembly was led by Sous Yara, head of the committee.
At the meeting, Hue highly appreciated the results of the consultation conference and requested the three Foreign Affairs Committees complete procedures to be submitted to the legislative leaders of the three countries for approval.
He said the outcomes of the conference would not only help to promote relations amongst the three countries, but also to further strengthen parliamentary cooperation, especially in the fields of socio-economic development, national defense and security, and people-to-people exchanges.
In addition, he said the conference also helped strengthen the trilateral coordination mechanism within the frameworks of regional and international forums.
The Foreign Affairs Committees of the National Assemblies of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia held a consultation conference in Lao Cai province on October 18 to prepare for a meeting of the leaders of the three legislatures due to take place in 2023.
The delegates discussed and gave opinions on the drafting of the procedure for organizing the summit, with a primary focus on boosting socio-economic development, promoting and supervising the implementation of cooperation agreements, strengthening the exchange of information and experience sharing on legislation, and mobilizing capital from partners to implement projects in the Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam Development Triangle Area.
