NA leader attends Vietnam – New Zealand education forum

VOV.VN - National Assembly chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, who is in New Zealand for an official visit, attended a Vietnam – New Zealand education forum in Hamilton city on December 5.

Addressing the forum, Hue stressed the need to increase education cooperation between the two countries, especially when New Zealand has a developed and high-quality education system in the world.

The strengthening of education and training cooperation between the two countries is an inevitable need which is considered the most important field in realizing the action programme for the Vietnam – New Zealand Strategic Partnership, he said.

He recalled the signing of an education cooperation document between the two countries during the Vietnam visit in November by NZ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, which he said creates a legal framework for both sides to bolster bilateral education cooperation. He took the occasion to call on New Zealand universities to invest in Vietnam.

Grant McPherson, chief executive at Education New Zealand, affirmed education cooperation is always at the heart of the partnership between the two sides.

The forum presents an opportunity for the two sides to enhance the sharing of educational information and promote academic cooperation as well as cultural cooperation, he said, adding that there is still plenty of room for the two sides to expand cooperation in this field.

Vietnam is the only country in Southeast Asia that has a cooperative relationship with three major New Zealand universities.

National Assembly chairman Vuong Dinh Hue also witnessed the inauguration of the New Zealand - Vietnam Friendship Association, and the hand-over of 10 cooperation documents between leading universities of Vietnam and New Zealand.
