Minister Phan Van Giang hails Vietnam – Canada defence cooperation
VOV.VN - General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defence of Vietnam, lauded positive results of defence cooperation between Vietnam and Canada in recent times during his reception in Hanoi on February 20 for Stefanie Beck, Deputy Minister of National Defence of Canada.

Gen. Giang welcomed Beck’s visit for the third Vietnam – Canada Defence Policy Dialogue in Hanoi on the same day, as well as the success of the dialogue which he said would support the strengthening of defence cooperation between the two countries.
The minister emphasized that Vietnam highly values its relationship with Canada and recognizes Canada’s potential and position in the regional and international arena. He also noted that the Vietnam-Canada Comprehensive Partnership has been developing positively and becoming increasingly substantive across multiple fields, in line with the cooperation agreements signed between the two countries.
In his opinion, defence cooperation between Vietnam and Canada has been actively promoted by the leadership of both countries' Ministries of National Defence through bilateral and multilateral engagements. The two sides have effectively maintained mechanisms for dialogue and consultation, delegation exchanges, training, UN peacekeeping cooperation, defence industry collaboration, war aftermath recovery efforts, and mutual support at multilateral forums.
Gen. Giang thanked the Canadian Ministry of National Defence for its support in training and UN peacekeeping engagement, helping to enhance the international integration capacity of Vietnamese officers and make a positive contribution to addressing global challenges.
He proposed that, both sides continue implementing existing areas of cooperation in accordance with the signed agreements and further strengthen collaboration in training, UN peacekeeping, defence industry, war aftermath recovery, and border management.
Beck for her part expressed her delight at the positive outcomes and success of the third Vietnam-Canada Defence Policy Dialogue. She said she hopes, in the future, cooperation between the two Ministries of National Defence will continue to be strengthened for the shared prosperity of both countries.
