Lebanese President hails Vietnam’s development achievements

VOV.VN - Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has praised Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements and growing international standing, expressing his desire to strengthen bilateral ties as Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Nam Duong presented his credentials in Beirut.

Receiving the ambassador following the credentials presentation ceremony on October 15, President Aoun said the Lebanese people hold Vietnam and its people in high regard and admire the country’s proud history of struggle for independence.

He expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements, its Doi Moi (Renewal) process and international integration, highlighting the country’s new development orientations and strategies that are helping enhance its standing on the international stage.

Aoun also expressed hope for an early visit to Vietnam and pledged to direct relevant Lebanese authorities to facilitate Ambassador Duong’s work and help him fulfil his diplomatic duties.

Duong, who is also Vietnam’s ambassador to Egypt, presented his credentials to President Aoun, formally assuming his duties as Vietnam’s non-resident Ambassador to Lebanon.

During his working visit to Lebanon, Ambassador Duong also met with local authorities, trade promotion organisations, and cultural and sports organisations to explore opportunities for closer cooperation.

The two sides agreed to strengthen connections among relevant government agencies, trade and investment promotion bodies, cultural and sports organisations, and business communities. The aim is to expand opportunities for practical cooperation and give fresh impetus to friendship and bilateral ties.

The engagements reflect a shared interest in building on the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Lebanon and promoting more substantive and effective cooperation across a range of fields.
