He congratulated the great achievements that the Party, State, National Assembly and Government of Vietnam have recorded over recent times, especially in the COVID-19 control and economic recovery.
For his part, NA Chairman Hue congratulated Laos on the positive results the Government has achieved in responding to the pandemic, maintaining socio-political stability, reopening the economy and welcoming back international visitors.
Both host and guest expressed their satisfaction over the positive development of the cooperative relations between the two countries over the past time, through regular high-level exchanges and contacts, including Viphavanh’s Vietnam visit in early 2022 and a meeting between the two PMs on the sidelines of the ASEAN-US Special Summit just three days ago.
The National Assembly of Vietnam attaches special importance to building and perfecting institutions and laws to meet its Doi Moi (Renewal) and international integration requirements, while closely monitoring and promoting the implementation of cooperation programmes and projects between the two Governments of Vietnam and Laos, Hue stressed.
With regard to future bilateral cooperation, the leaders emphasized the need for the two sides to seriously implement high-level agreements, including the results of the 44th session of the Vietnam – Laos Intergovernmental Committee in early 2022, the 2021-2030 strategic agreement on Vietnam - Laos cooperation and the 2021-2025 agreement on bilateral cooperation.
The two sides agreed to seek breakthrough solutions to elevate economic cooperation, especially in trade and investment, on a par with the Vietnam – Laos special relationship.
It’s imperative for the two economies to strengthen connectivity, both in hard infrastructure and institutional connectivity, digital economy, finance and banking, while simultaneously promoting cooperation in clean agriculture and high technology application, they agreed.
They also agreed to remove difficulties and obstacles to key joint cooperation projects between the two countries such as the Laos - Vietnam Friendship Park in Vientiane, Wharfs 1, 2, 3 of Vung Ang port, Hanoi - Vientiane expressway and Nongkhang airport among others.
The two sides also affirmed that they would further work together to promote cooperation in other important fields such as national defence, security, education & training, labour, science & technology, culture, sports and tourism, as well as, cooperation between border and sister localities and people-to-people exchanges.
They also vowed to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially the United Nations, ASEAN and sub-regional cooperation mechanisms, both on the government and parliamentary channels.
