Lao leader Thongloun Sisoulith to visit Vietnam next week

VOV.VN - Lao People’s Revolutionary Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and his spouse will pay a state visit to Vietnam on January 26-27, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The invitation has been extended by Communist Party of Vietnam General Secretary To Lam and his spouse, the Foreign Ministry said in a press communique on January 23.

The visit comes as Vietnam and Laos continue to strengthen their special relationship, underpinned by close political ties, regular high-level exchanges and cooperation across security, trade and development. The two countries maintain a comprehensive partnership, with party-to-party relations forming a central pillar of bilateral ties.

Vietnam is one of Laos’s largest investors and trading partners, while the two countries cooperate closely within regional frameworks such as ASEAN. The visit is expected to reaffirm commitments to deepening coordination and promoting practical cooperation.
