Japanese Minister of Defense Kihara Minoru visits Vietnam
VOV.VN - General Phan Van Giang, Minister of Defense of Vietnam, hosted a welcoming ceremony in Hanoi for Minister of Defense Kihara Minoru of Japan who began an official visit to Vietnam on August 6.
Shortly after the welcoming ceremony, the two ministers held talks on measures to boost defense cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.
Minoru’s visit is to maintain high-level contact, contributing to enhancing mutual understanding and trust, promoting defense cooperation, and concretising the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world between Vietnam and Japan.
The visit took place at a time when Vietnam-Japan defense cooperation has been effectively strengthened by both sides in recent times, and is a pillar in bilateral relations. The two sides have maintained high-level visit exchanges and increased cooperation between their armies and units, including in human resource training, as well as in overcoming the consequences of war and joining UN peacekeeping missions.
