VOV.VN - On the afternoon of April 1, National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man, his spouse Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga and a high-ranking NA delegation, departed from Hanoi to attend the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-150) and pay official visits to Uzbekistan and Armenia.

The visits are made at the invitations of IPU President Tulia Ackson, IPU Secretary-General Martin Chungong, President of the Senate of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva, and President of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan.

The participation of the Vietnamese top legislator in the IPU-150 Assembly demonstrates Vietnam’s strong commitment to multilateralism and its recognition of the IPU’s role. It also reaffirms the Vietnamese NA as an active, responsible, and proactive member of the IPU.

This trip marks NA Chairman Man’s first multilateral diplomatic activity in 2025, aligning with Vietnam’s unwavering foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification of external relations for peace, friendship, cooperation, and development. It also highlights the country’s proactive and active engagement in international integration, positioning Vietnam as a trusted partner and a responsible member of the global community.

On the bilateral front, the NA Chairman’s official visits to Uzbekistan and Armenia are the first by a top Vietnamese legislator to the two countries and the highest-level visits by a Vietnamese leader since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992.

The visits hold significant political importance, reaffirming Vietnam’s respect for its traditional friendship with Uzbekistan and Armenia. They also show Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening political trust and creating a foundation for enhanced cooperation across multiple fields, aiming to elevate relations with both nations to new heights.
