Get-together marks 95 years of Thailand National Day

VOV.VN - The Ho Chi Ninh City Union of Friendship Organisations hosted a ceremony on December 6 to mark the 95th National Day of Thailand and the 95th birth anniversary of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Wiraka Moodhitaporn, consul general of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City, reviewed major developments in the Thailand - Vietnam relations, saying cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges constitute a firm foundation for strengthening bilateral relations.

Promoting mutual understanding and connection between the two peoples will create favourable conditions for enhancing bilateral economic – trade - investment cooperation towards the target of raising two-way trade to US$25 billion soon, said the diplomat.

She affirmed the Consulate General is ready to coordinate closely with relevant Vietnamese agencies to foster the Thailand – Vietnam friendship based on the fact that the two countries are each other sustainable partners.

The two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Thailand rose 18% last year to US$18.8 billion. The first nine months of 2022 saw bilateral trade rise 17.2% year on year to US$16.1 billion. The two sides agreed to raise their trade value to US$25 billion by 2025.

At the ceremony, the Consulate General granted 20 scholarships to students of the Thai language faculty of Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
