Geely Auto seeks support for Vietnam project
VOV.VN - China’s Geely Automobile Group is seeking Vietnam’s support for the group to deploy its investment project in Vietnam, Geely Auto CEO Gan Jiayue told Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha in Hanoi on September 23.
At the meeting, Jiayue briefed his host on some of the group’s major activities globally, particularly its acquisitions and collaborations with several renowned automotive brands, focusing on petrol, electric, and hybrid vehicles.
Geely Auto is concentrating on researching and developing green products that are environmentally friendly, as well as manufacturing high-end cockpit chips, he said.
The CEO outlined the group’s plan to build an automobile assembly plant, invest in a parts supply chain, and establish a research and development centre in Vietnam.
He also made several recommendations to facilitate the implementation of its investment project in Vietnam concerning environmental impact assessment procedures, fire safety, construction regulations, and tax incentives for imports and exports, as well as credit support.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha for his part welcomed Geely Auto’s investment plan in Vietnam, which he hoped would yield positive results.
According to the Deputy PM, the global automotive industry is highly competitive, requiring continuous innovation and creativity to keep pace with current trends, including reducing emissions and protecting the environment.
He emphasized the need for Geely Auto’s investment cooperation project in Vietnam to be implemented quickly and comprehensively, covering research, production, development, technology transfer, and workforce training. He also highlighted the importance of considering the material and spiritual well-being of workers, including education and health care.
Vietnam welcomes foreign businesses to invest in high-tech, innovation, supporting industries, and electronic components for automotive production, as well as related technical infrastructure, with the participation of Vietnamese businesses, aimed at gradually forming value and supply chains for automotive production in the country for local use and export, he told his guest.
