French Ambassador Nicolas Warnery honoured with friendship insignia

VOV.VN - French Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolas Warnery has been awarded the insignia “For Peace and Friendship Among Nations” in recognition of his practical contributions to strengthening cooperation between France and Vietnam.

Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, president of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), awarded the honour to the French diplomat at a ceremony in Hanoi on July 17.

In her remarks, Nga highlighted major developments in Vietnam – France relations and said during his working term, Warnery has made contributions to promoting bilateral cooperation in all fields, from politics, diplomacy, and security to economy, trade, investment, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

Both Vietnam and France have many things in common, and bilateral cooperation in the field of culture and heritage conservation is a prominent highlight during Warnery’s working term in Vietnam, she noted.

According to the VUFO president, Ambassador Warnery has not only enthusiastically and actively engaged in external activities organized by VUFO, but also paid attention to and supported people-to-people diplomacy of the Vietnam - France Friendship and Cooperation Association, and the Vietnam Alumni Association in France.

Nga expressed her hope that Ambassador Warnery would continue to make active contributions to Vietnam – France people-to-people diplomacy, so as to help deepen the Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

Ambassador Warnery thanked the VUFO president for the honour and affirmed that France wants to ramp up cooperation with Vietnam to build up gains both countries have recorded over the past five decades.
