Fostering friendship, cooperation between Vietnam and Iran
VOV.VN - Ambassador to Iran Luong Quoc Huy on April 12 held a working session with Kamal Sajjadi, president of the Iran-Vietnam Friendship Association (IVFA) to discuss the possibility of strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
Sajjadi, who was former Ambassador of Iran to Vietnam from 1995-1998, noted that the two countries have great potential for cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, trade, culture, technology, and education.
He said the IVFA has since its inception in 2002 carried out diverse activities to promote the two countries’ relations, adding it actively lobbied for the signing of Memoranda of Understanding on sister cities between Tehran and Hanoi, and between Marandazan and Can Tho.
The IVFA is ready to work closely with the Vietnamese Embassy to realise diplomatic goals between the two countries, he stressed.
For his part, ambassador Huy highly appreciated the active role of the IVFA in fostering bilateral relations, and said that the two countries are now having favourable conditions for boosting development in the coming time.
He briefed the IVFA President on major activities to be carried out by the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran, including preparations for the 10th session of the Intergovernmental Joint Committee and for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2023.
The Ambassador expressed his belief that the close coordination between the Vietnamese Embassy and the Iran-Vietnam Friendship Association would contribute to strengthening the two countries’ relations in the time to come.
