Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son visits China's Guangxi province

Son, who is in China for a two-day official visit, affirmed that Vietnam always creates favourable conditions for its localities to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with Chinese localities, including Guangxi.

He proposed that the two sides effectively implement high-level common perceptions and important outcomes recorded during General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s China visit in October 2022 and the Vietnam visit in December 2023 by General Secretary and President Xi Jinping.

It is important for the two sides to further improve the effectiveness of existing cooperation mechanisms, strengthen friendly exchanges, and share practical experiences in party building, social management, and economic development, he said.

The FM also proposed that Guangxi facilitate customs clearance at border gates, step up the construction of border gate infrastructure for road and railway connections, and improve goods transportation capacity through border gates.

The two sides should closely coordinate to well manage the Vietnam - China land border, together organize activities to celebrate 25 years of the signing of the Land Border Treaty and 15 years of the signing of three legal documents on land borders in 2024, he said.

Liu for his part welcomed Son’s proposals and said Guangxi attaches special importance to friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation with Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities.

He proposed that the two sides bring into full play their potential, strengths and complementarity in cooperation, enhance transportation infrastructure connections, facilitate customs clearance, and rev up construction of smart border gates, along with promoting tourism cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, so as to help build a Vietnam-China community with a shared future as agreed upon by their top leaders.

Son began a two-day visit to China on April 3 at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
