Ethiopia Prime Minister warmly welcomed in Hanoi on official visit to Vietnam
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hosted an official welcoming ceremony in Hanoi on April 15 afternoon for Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed Ali and his spouse, who are on an official visit to Vietnam.

This marks the first official visit to Vietnam by a high-ranking Ethiopian leader since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1976, and also the first high-level exchange between Vietnam and Ethiopia in seven years.
After the ceremony, the two PM held talks on measures to strengthen cooperative relations between the two countries.
During his stay from April 14-17, the Ethiopian PM is scheduled to pay courtesy calls to leaders of the Vietnamese Party, State, and National Assembly. He will also attend the fourth Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit.
The visit comes as the two countries look ahead to the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026. Over the past decades, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Ethiopia has developed positively. The two countries have signed various documents, including those on cultural cooperation, and on economic, scientific, and technical cooperation.
This visit reflects the strategic vision and mutual desire to elevate and deepen bilateral relations in a new phase of development. Both countries are expected to review the full scope of cooperation and discuss practical and effective frameworks for the future, especially in trade, investment, aviation, science and technology, agriculture, and cybersecurity. The visit also aims to enhance Vietnam’s presence and image in Africa, including in Ethiopia.
