Ethiopia Prime Minister to visit Vietnam, attend P4G Summit
VOV.VN - Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed Ali and his spouse will pay an official visit to Vietnam and attend the fourth Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit from April 14 – 17, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The invitation has been extended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his spouse, the ministry said in a press communique on April 13.
Vietnam and Ethiopia established diplomatic relations in February 1976, just 10 months after Vietnam regained national reunification. The two countries have maintained a close relationship and have consistently supported and backed each other at regional and international forums.
Ethiopia is one of the oldest countries in Africa, with strong development potential in both agriculture and industry. It is currently considered a model of development on the continent and is among the fastest-growing economies in the region, averaging around 10%.
Vietnam is a dynamic country in Southeast Asia, with a strategically important geopolitical position, that shares borders with China, Laos, Cambodia, and the East Sea. Over the past decades, Vietnam has achieved remarkable accomplishments in economic development, social progress, and international integration.
The two countries have signed various documents, including those on cultural cooperation, and on economic, scientific, and technical cooperation.
During a working visit to Ethiopia early this year, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang co-chaired a political consultation with State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Mesganu Arga.
Hang suggested that both sides identify achievable goals to strive towards increasing bilateral trade turnover, promoting investment cooperation in areas where Vietnam has strengths, such as telecommunications, digital transformation, digital services, agriculture, and tourism.
She also proposed that both sides accelerate negotiations on important agreements and memorandums of understanding in areas like trade, investment, air transportation, science and technology, agriculture, and cybersecurity.
Both sides agreed to explore the possibility of enhancing cooperation in several potential areas such as food processing, seafood, pharmaceuticals, Halal products, and textiles.
