Dominican Republic wishes to promote cooperative relations with Vietnam

The diplomat was speaking at a flower laying ceremony in front of the statue of President Juan Emilio Bosch at Hoa Binh Park in Hanoi on November 1, marking the 22nd death anniversary of the President.

He recalled the close relationship between Dominican President Juan Bosch and Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh during their lifetime, saying Bosch always gave Ho special affection, trust, and full support for the Vietnamese people’s struggle for liberation and national reunification, contributing to strengthening solidarity with progressive peoples in the world.

According to the ambassador, Vietnam and the Dominican Republic established diplomatic relations on July 7, 2005. The Dominican Republic opened its embassy in Hanoi on February 25, 2023, marking an important milestone in bilateral relations.

The Government and people of the Dominican Republic hope that Vietnam will soon open a diplomatic mission in the capital Santo Domingo, so as to enhance the comprehensive relationship between the two countries, he said.

According to the diplomat, both countries have great potential to lift their cooperation to a higher level in the fields of diplomacy, trade, science, agriculture, education, telecommunications, tourism, sports and culture.

The two countries also strengthen their brotherhood, solidarity and mutual support at multilateral forums to preserve peace, maintain solidarity, and protect human rights and international law, towards a better world, he added.
