Tran Hai Linh, chairman of the Vietnam - Korea Business and Investment Association (VKBIA), accompanied the Senior Lieutenant General during the visit.

At his meeting with Mayor Choi Dae-ho, Vinh said that Chinh’s visit was to promote substantial cooperation in all fields with the RoK which is Vietnam’s major investment and trade partner, commensurate with the comprehensive strategic partnership established in 2022 between the two countries.

The Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam is focusing on implementing digital transformation and e-Government applications to improve capacity and efficiency of management and administration. It therefore wishes to learn from the RoK’s experience in implementing information technology applications and ensuring information security for digital transformation, said Vinh.

Choi for his part introduced Anyang’s development potential, saying the city, with an area of 58.52km² and a population of about 546,160, is home to more than 7,200 high-tech industrial enterprises and manufacturing enterprises in many fields, bringing in billions of US dollars in export revenue to the city each year.

Anyang has built a Smart City Operation Complex Center that applies information technology to urban management and administration to serve the interests of local residents.

At the meeting, VKBIA chairman Linh emphasized that the meeting helped concretise the solid foundation of cooperation between Anyang city and the VKBIA, and affirmed that the VKBIA would continue to serve as a bridge to enhance cooperation in economics, trade, tourism, culture, education, digital transformation, and smart cities between Vietnam and the RoK.

During their stay in the city, Choi took the delegation on a tour of the Smart City Operation Complex Center.
