Congratulations on 50 years of Vietnam – Australia diplomacy
VOV.VN - Vietnamese leaders have sent letters of congratulation to their Australian counterparts on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between the two countries.
The letters were correspondingly sent by Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to Governor-General David Hurley, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Senate President Sue Lines and House of Representatives Speaker Milton Dick.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son also cabled a letter of congratulation to his Australian counterpart Penny Wong.
Vietnam and Australia established diplomatic ties on February 26, 1973. They both decided to raise their ties to a level of strategic partnership in 2018, and are looking to lift their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership at an appropriate time in the near future.
Australia became Vietnam’s seventh largest trading partner last year with two-way trade hitting more than US$15.6 billion. Australia ranked 20th out of 141 countries and territories investing in Vietnam with 583 projects capitalised at nearly US$2 billion.
