China looks forward to top Vietnamese legislator’s visit
VOV.VN - China is looking forward to receiving Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s upcoming visit to Beijing that gives the two countries the chance to increase bilateral cooperation between the two countries, Chinese Ambassador Xiong Bo.
The upcoming visit to China by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue is an important interaction between senior leaders of the two sides, helping to maintain and strengthen strategic exchanges, said Xiong.
Hue is scheduled to pay an official visit to China from April 7 to 12 at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Zhao Leji.
This visit is of great significance, helping to deepen cooperation in all fields between the two countries and their legislative bodies, said the diplomat.
Xiong said the two countries’ legislative bodies will sign a new cooperation agreement during Hue’s visit to renew the high-level cooperation and dialogue mechanism between their bodies.
Hue will be the first foreign leader that Zhao receives after the China People’s Congress elected the new leadership.
China was the first country that established diplomatic relations with Vietnam on January 18, 1950. It is Vietnam’s largest trading partner, while Vietnam is China’s largest partner in ASEAN.
Total import-export turnover between Vietnam and China in 2023 reached US$171.9 billion last year. In the first two months of this year, two-way trade turnover hit US$27.3 billion, up 28% over the same period in 2023.
During the Vietnam visit in December 2023 by Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, the two countries released a joint statement on continuing to deepen and elevate the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to build a Vietnam-China community with a shared future.
