VOV.VN - China fired a 21-gun salute in Beijing on August 19 morning to welcome Vietnamese Party General Secretary and President To Lam who is on an official state visit to China from August 18 – 20 at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and his spouse hosted a state welcoming ceremony for Vietnamese Party General Secretary and President To Lam and his spouse in Beijing.
Xi invited his guest to the podium of honour to render the flag salute, and review the guard of honour.
Shortly after the ceremony, the two leaders held talks on measures to strengthen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China.
This is To Lam’s first visit to China after he was elected General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee in early August.
The top leader’s visit is showing Vietnam’s consistent policy of giving top priority to strengthening relations with China. It is of paramount importance to bilateral relations which have been developing positively in recent times.
Vietnam and China have agreed to further deepen and elevate the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and build a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, during Xi’s state visit to Vietnam in December 2023.
