Cambodian researcher lauds CPV’s leadership role in Vietnam development

VOV.VN - A Cambodian researcher has highly appreciated the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) in national construction and development over the past 95 years, saying the CPV will certainly help Vietnam realize its centenary goals in the coming years.

Vietnam aims to become a developing country with a modern industrial economy and upper middle income by 2030 to mark 100 years of its CPV and a developed, high-income country by 2045 to celebrate 100 years of its modern socialist state.

Uch Leang, acting head of the Asia-Africa and Middle East Studies Department at the Institute of International Relations, Royal Academy of Cambodia (RAC), told Vietnam News Agency recently that he is impressed by the tremendous achievements after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi (Renovation) and the upcoming development goals of the Vietnamese people as the country enters a new era of national advancement.

He congratulated the CPV on its 95th anniversary (February 3, 1930 – 2025), noting the party’s important role in leading Vietnam’s revolution and achieving many glorious victories, propelling the nation forward.

He highlighted major milestones in the Vietnamese revolution for the past decades, saying under the leadership of the CPV, Vietnam has clinched great victories, including the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945, and the victories of the two wars of resistance against French colonialism and American imperialism (1945-1975).

The resounding victory at Dien Bien Phu on May 7, 1954, against the French colonial regime shocked France and the world, forcing the French government to sign a peace agreement and grant Vietnam full independence. The complete independence of Cambodia and Laos was also recognized, and the Indochina War came to a full end, he said.

According to the researcher, who is also President of the Cambodia Alumni from Vietnam Association (CAVA), during its historic sixth National Congress in 1986, the CPV set forth a comprehensive, deep, and decisive reform policy that marked the beginning of the country’s Renovation process. After nearly four decades of implementing the Renovation policy, Vietnam has reaped remarkable successes across all sectors and raised its position in the world, which have been appreciated by the international community.

In addition, the CPV has also intensified the current anti-corruption campaign and efforts to streamline the administrative apparatus in an effort to improve the quality of governance, leadership, and management, ensure transparency, build on public trust, and attract foreign investors.

The CPV, by creatively applying Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's Thoughts, is the decisive factor in the success of Vietnam’s revolutionary process, and the achievements, which resulted from the Renovation process, serve as a solid foundation for Vietnam to achieve its ambitious development goals and prosperity in the future, believed the researcher.
