Cambodia hopes to learn from Vietnam’s SEA Games experience

VOV.VN - Cambodia hopes Vietnam will share its experience in organizing the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games when Phnom Penh is due to play host to the regional sporting event in May.

Newly accredited Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam, Chea Kimtha raised the hope at a meeting with Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son in Hanoi on March 14.

Cambodia is trying its best to successfully organize the 32nd SEA Games in May 2023 and it expects to learn from Vietnam’s experience in hosting the Games in 2022, Kimtha told her host.

The Cambodian diplomat also vowed to do her best to contribute to strengthening the increasingly close and effective relationship between Cambodia and Vietnam.

Welcoming the new ambassador, FM Son congratulated Cambodia on its great achievements over the past year, including the successful organisation of the fifth local elections in June 2022, and the successful assumption of ASEAN and AIPA Chair in 2022.

He expressed his delight at the strong development of bilateral ties, and suggested that both sides work closely together to effectively carry out high-level agreements and important bilateral cooperation mechanisms, including the 20th meeting of the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Commission on Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technological Cooperation, and the 12th conference on cooperation and development of Vietnam-Cambodia border provinces.

The Minister also requested that Cambodia continue creating favourable conditions for Cambodians of Vietnamese origin to live, work and study, contributing to the development of Cambodia and the friendship between the two countries.
