Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye to visit Vietnam next week
VOV.VN - Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye and his spouse will pay an official visit to Vietnam from April 3 to 6 at the invitation of Vietnamese President Luong Cuong and his spouse, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Burundi is a country located in Central Africa, bordered by Tanzania to the east and south, the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west, and Rwanda to the north.
Vietnam and Burundi established diplomatic relations on July 16, 1975, and bilateral ties have shown positive development in recent years.
The two countries regularly exchange high-level delegations and seek to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields.
In September 2023, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with President Evariste Ndayishimiye in New York on the sidelines of the 78th UN General Assembly, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to boosting bilateral trade and investment.
Bilateral trade volume remains modest but has the potential for growth, particularly in agriculture, telecommunications, and mineral resources. Military-run telecom group Viettel has invested in Burundi’s telecommunications sector through Lumitel, contributing to the country’s socio-economic development.
The two countries are exploring further cooperation in exporting rice, coffee, and cashew nuts from Vietnam to Burundi, expanding agriculture, ICT, and investment collaborations, and encouraging business partnerships and investment flows between the two sides.
President Ndayishimiye’s official visit to Vietnam is expected to further boost bilateral cooperation across various sectors, particularly in economics, trade, and investment.
