Brazilian President Lula da Silva arrives in Hanoi for state visit to Vietnam

VOV.VN - Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva arrived in Hanoi on March 27 afternoon, beginning his three-day State visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Luong Cuong.

Lula da Silva and his entourage were welcomed at At Noi Bai International Airport by Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Duong Duc Tuan, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil Bui Van Nghi.

Lula da Silva was accompanied by President of the Federal Senate Davi Alcolumbre, President of the Chamber of Deputies Hugo Motta, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mauro Vieira, and other ministers in charge of transport, ports and airports, agriculture, education, energy, communications, science-technology-innovation, and environment and climate change. Brazilian Ambassador to Vietnam Marco Farani was also present at the airport to welcome the head of the state of Brazil.

Ambassador Bui Van Nghi said, the visit takes place following the upgrade of Vietnam – Brazil relations to a Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s participation in the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro in November 2024. The upgrade reflects the strong, substantive, and effective development of bilateral relations, marking a significant qualitative leap in political and diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Marco Farani emphasized, President Lula da Silver’s visit will highlight the complementary nature of the two countries and the crucial role of their economies in key sectors such as agriculture, science and technology, and innovation. In addition, the visit aims to open new avenues for cooperation in trade, economy, and investment while fostering deeper people-to-people diplomacy.

During his State visit to Vietnam, President Lula da Silva is expected to attend an official welcoming ceremony, hold talks with President Luong Cuong, meet with other senior Vietnamese leaders, and engage in key activities in Hanoi.
