Botswana wishes to enhance economic cooperation with Vietnam
VOV.VN - President Duma Gideon Boko encouraged strong economic cooperation between Botswana and Vietnam during his recent reception for Vietnamese Ambassador to South Africa and Botswana Hoang Sy Cuong in capital Gaborone.

Boko congratulated Vietnam on its remarkable achievements in socio-economic development, particularly in attracting foreign direct investment and enhancing its international role and position. He particularly expressed admiration for Vietnam’s historic struggle for national liberation and reunification in the past.
The President recalled his positive impressions from his visit to Vietnam and his participation in the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-132) General Assembly, which Vietnam hosted in 2015.
Boko encouraged the Vietnamese Ambassador to continue strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries and to promote economic, trade, and investment cooperation. He highlighted Botswana’s key industries, such as mining and beef cattle farming, and invited Vietnamese businesses to explore investment opportunities in Botswana.
Cuong, who earlier presented his credentials to the President, conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of President Luong Cuong and other Vietnamese leaders to President Duma Gideon Boko.
He proposed that both countries enhance delegation exchanges to outline future cooperation orientations, while closely coordinating and supporting each other in multilateral forums, especially within the United Nations. The Ambassador also requested Botswana’s support in strengthening Vietnam’s relations with the African Union.
During his trip to capital Gaborone, the ambassador also paid a courtesy visit to Minister of Foreign Affairs Phenyo Butale and held working meetings with senior representatives of Botswana’s Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Vietnam and Botswana established diplomatic relations on February 11, 2009.
