Armies of Vietnam and Cambodia launch hotline

VOV.VN - The General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and the General Command of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) launched their hotline on August 15 to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.

The launching of the hotline is expected to improve the effectiveness of defense diplomacy, and promote friendship, solidarity and cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Addressing the launching ceremony, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the VPA Sen. Lieut. Gen. huynh Chien Thang noted that Vietnam and Cambodia are two neighboring countries with good traditional friendship. The armies and people of the two countries stood shoulder to shoulder in the fight against colonialism and imperialism, overthrowing the Pol Pot genocidal regime in Cambodia, and bringing independence, freedom, and happiness to each people.

Vietnam always gives top priority to constantly strengthening and developing good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive and long-term cooperation with Cambodia, he affirmed.

In his opinions, bilateral defense cooperation has been strengthened comprehensively and effectively in recent times as one of the important pillars of the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship. The hotline between the two armies is a project of great significance, contributing to deepening the traditional and friendly relationship between the two countries in general and the two armies in particular.

Joining the launching ceremony from Cambodia, Deputy Commander-In-Chief of the RCAF Gen. Vong Veasna spoke highly of the good neighbourliness and friendship between Cambodia and Vietnam, and affirmed that the operation of the hotline would contribute to promoting closer relations between the two armies.
