Angolan media highlights State visit of Vietnamese President Luong Cuong
VOV.VN - Angola's major media outlets, including the state news agency Angop and leading newspapers such as Jornal de Angola, simultaneously reported on the official state visit of Vietnamese President Luong Cuong to Angola at the invitation of President Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenco.

According to the media agencies, President Luong Cuong and his spouse arrived in the capital city Luanda on the afternoon of August 6, officially beginning their State visit to Angola. They were warmly welcomed by Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs Tete Antonio and other senior government officials at Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport.
As part of the visit, President Joao Lourenço will host an official welcoming ceremony and hold talks with President Luong Cuong at the Cidade Alta Presidential Palace. President Cuong is also scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the National Assembly of Angola, lay a wreath at the Memorial Plaque of President Ho Chi Minh, and visit the Monument to the Unknown Soldiers in Luanda.
On this occasion, Angolan media agencies revisited key milestones in the Vietnam–Angola relationship. The two countries officially established diplomatic relations on November 12, 1975, just one day after Angola’s declaration of independence. In 1978, they signed a general cooperation agreement, paving the way for the formation of a joint commission that meets every two years, with the most recent session held in March 2024.
Angop noted that Vietnam and Angola have signed numerous important cooperation documents over the years, including: a protocol on cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs in 2002; a protocol on agricultural cooperation in 2002; an agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders in 2008; and a protocol on cooperation between Vietnam’s National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and Angola’s Sonangol Group in 2008.
President Cuong’s visit is expected to further strengthen the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Angola in the coming years, according to the media agencies.
