AFK Sistema encouraged to expand high-tech investment in Vietnam
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on January 5 received Vladimir Petrovich Evtushenkov, co-founder of Russia’s AFK Sistema, calling on the conglomerate to expand investment and strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese partners, particularly in high-technology and digital transformation.
Vietnam attaches great importance to its traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, he said, while welcoming AFK Sistema’s rapid development and its recent engagement with major Vietnamese corporations.
He encouraged the group to increase investment in Vietnam and work more closely and effectively with Vietnamese enterprises to help implement agreements reached by senior leaders of the two countries.
The Prime Minister said the Vietnamese government supports direct partnerships between businesses of the two countries, especially in areas where Russia has strengths and Vietnam has growing demand. These include data infrastructure and database connectivity; information technology and digital transformation; cybersecurity; pharmaceuticals and health care; peaceful nuclear energy development; telecommunications; development of Vietnam’s digital asset market; underground and space-related projects, including metro systems in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City; and tourism cooperation.
He also noted that Vietnam is preparing to roll out a national single-window investment mechanism, and instructed relevant ministries and agencies to support AFK Sistema in trade promotion, investment and partnership activities in Vietnam.
Evtushenkov for his part said AFK Sistema is Russia’s largest private conglomerate, employing around 300,000 people, with investments in telecommunications, digital services, high technology, e-commerce, health care, timber processing, agriculture, pharmaceuticals and hospitality.
He shared the group is pursuing a strategy to strengthen partnerships and investments in the Asia-Pacific region, emphasising that Vietnam remains a trusted and strategic partner.
On the basis of the strong traditional ties between the two countries, Evtushenkov highlighted the potential for cooperation with Vietnamese enterprises and pledged to actively promote collaboration in the areas outlined by the Prime Minister.
He also affirmed AFK Sistema’s commitment to increasing localization, transferring technology, and providing structured workforce training in Vietnam to ensure long-term effectiveness and mutual benefits.
