Vietnam-Russia cooperation explored amid digital transformation
VOV.VN - With support from the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia and the Vietnam Trade Office in Russia, a roundtable titled “Culture – Trade – Technology – Green Cooperation between Vietnam and Russia in the Digital Era” was held at the Hanoi-Moscow trade centre, part of the Hanoi-Moscow Complex (Incentra) on December 23.
The event was directed by the Vietnam Advertising Association (VAA) and jointly organized by the International Cultural and Commercial Center ICC, a VAA member, the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association, and the Association of Vietnamese Businesses in Russia.
Attending the roundtable were Nguyen Truong Son, chairman of the VAA; Duong Hoang Minh, trade counselor and head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Russia; along with Vietnamese enterprises visiting Russia to explore the market and companies already operating in the country.
Addressing the event, VAA Chairman Nguyen Truong Son said the roundtable seeks to work through Vietnam’s representative agencies in Russia and Vietnamese businesses there to gain insights into market conditions, consumer demand and market-entry experience in Russia in the context of the digital era. On that basis, the VAA will define concrete directions and promote business linkages to expand economic cooperation and boost trade with Russia through product promotion and trade facilitation activities.
He noted that the association has carried out several projects promoting Vietnam’s key products on e-commerce platforms in markets such as China and India, and expressed hope that Vietnam’s strengths would achieve deeper penetration into the Russian market in the coming period through e-commerce platforms currently being developed by the VAA.
Also speaking at the event, Duong Hoang Minh, trade counselor and head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Russia reviewed the positive trajectory of Vietnam-Russia economic and trade cooperation in recent years. He said the visit to Russia by Party General Secretary To Lam in May 2025 created fresh impetus for bilateral relations, including in fields such as nuclear power, digital transformation and renewable energy.
On market demand, Minh said Russia continues to show strong interest in food products, including processed agricultural goods, seafood, coffee, rice and cashew nuts, as well as essential consumer goods and traceable green products. However, amid accelerating digital transformation, these products are facing increasingly intense competition, requiring Vietnamese enterprises to take a more proactive approach to market development, marketing and product improvement.
Representatives of Vietnamese companies visiting Russia said the country should be viewed not only as a consumer market but also as a long-term strategic partner for the development and export of Vietnam’s consumer goods.
In this context, cultural cooperation was described as a “bridge” that can help pave the way for economic ties by building trust and mutual understanding among businesses, thereby facilitating two-way market access.
Meanwhile, representatives of Vietnamese enterprises operating in Russia said they are ready to support firms seeking to enter the market, including by developing high-quality product lines, ensuring stable supply, meeting market standards and building sustainable distribution systems spanning traditional retail, supermarket chains and e-commerce.
The roundtable served as a forum for business networking, market exploration and new cooperation opportunities, contributing to stronger Vietnam-Russia economic and trade ties in the digital era.
