Deputy PM wishes for stronger oil and gas and energy cooperation with Russia

VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha hopes that Russian state-owned oil and gas company Zarubezhneft and Vietnam Oil and Gas Group PVN will devise practical proposals to further enhance the scope of ties in the fields of oil, gas, and energy at a reception for Kudryashov Sergei Ivanovich, general director of Russian Zarubezhneft Company, in Hanoi on June 19.

The meeting saw Deputy PM Ha express his appreciation for the effective ties between Zarubezhneft and PVN in recent times, thus making an important contribution to economic relations between both sides.

The oil, gas, and energy sector represents a pillar of collaboration between the two countries and is promoted by their senior leaders.
Over recent times, the Government and the Prime Minister of Vietnam have closely directed all agencies and sectors to resolve difficulties and obstacles, including amending, supplementing, revising relevant legal documents, and streamlining unnecessary procedures in order to create favourable conditions for investment and business activities, Deputy PM Ha told his guest.

He proposed ministries, sectors, Zarubezhneft, and businesses and partners continue to incorporate forth principles of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries into the process of implementing new investment and co-operation projects in Vietnam.

He said he hopes that Zarubezhneft will pay attention to investing in renewable energy projects such as exploring offshore wind power, producing new fuels such as green hydrogen, green ammonia, and taking advantage of the infrastructure facilities of oil rigs.

“There is ample room for Vietnam and Russia to boost energy cooperation. Zarubezhneft and PVN need to prioritize investing, researching, and mastering technology to produce new green fuels from renewable energy. This is the 'key' for the world to transform green," said the Deputy PM.

For his part, Ivanovich briefed his host on the operational status of Vietsovpetro Joint Venture, as well as a number of other projects in the oil, gas, and energy sector in Vietnam, thereby making an important contribution to bilateral trade turnover between the two countries.

Zarubezneft Company boasts more than 40 years of experience working with PVN. Most notably, the establishment of Vietsovpetro and Rusvietpetro Joint Ventures, has achieved many successes in geological exploration and oil and gas exploitation, a factor in creating jobs and contributing to each country's budget.

Zarubezhneft and PVF are co-ordinating to competently implement high-level agreements between the two countries in the field of oil and gas co-operation.
