Deputy PM welcomes Obama assistant

Evan Medeiros, Special Assistant to US President Barrack Obama, was received by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh on July 14, during his visit that sought measures for future comprehensive partnership to work for peace, stability, cooperation and development in Asia-Pacific and the world. 

Minh expressed his satisfaction with the positive progress of Vietnam-US relations in many fields from politics-diplomacy, economics-trade, and education to security-defence and collaboration at regional and international forums. 

He noted that the comprehensive partnership that the two countries established a year ago has done good to bilateral ties. 

Medeiros told his host, who is also Foreign Minister that his visit was assigned by President Obama. 

It aims to seek to speed up bilateral ties as well as cooperation in several regional and international issues of mutual concern, including a Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement and the East Sea situation. 

Both sides discussed specific contents in Vietnam-US ties and issues in Asia-Pacific.

On the same day, the US guest was also received by Deputy Defence Minister Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh.

Evan Medeiros suggested that both nations should strengthen information sharing and exchange of high-level military delegation and properly implement a signed memorandum of understanding on bilateral defense cooperation, helping improve the efficiency of defense cooperation and deal with the consequences of war.
