Deputy PM pays working visit to New Zealand

VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue on July 26 began his two-day official visit to New Zealand at the invitation of his counterpart Paula Bennett.

During his meeting with Finance Minister Steven Joyce, both agreed to boost bilateral comprehensive partnership towards a strategic partnership while raising trade turnover to US$1.7 billion by 2020. 

The Deputy PM asked for New Zealand to share experience to help Vietnam in its economic restructuring, saying that Vietnam is accelerating economic restructuring, including in credit organisations, commercial banks and State-owned enterprises.

Vietnam is also working harder to fine-tune market economy mechanisms, improve competitiveness and business climate, he added.

Minister Joyce, in turn, praised Vietnam as a significant partner of New Zealand in ASEAN and spoke highly of Vietnam’s successful hosting of important events in its capacity as Chair of ASEAN 2017. 

He said Vietnam is an important partner and pledged support for Vietnam’s financial and banking restructuring as well as Vietnamese agricultural exports to New Zealand. 

The Deputy Prime Minister also met the Chairman of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Neil Quigley and visited the Vietnam Embassy in Wellington,during which he said his visit is to push p bilateral ties, particularly in trade, education and labour exchange, urge New Zealand to consider the future of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and prepare for the forthcoming visits by both sides.
