Defence Minister hosts senior official of Cambodian Interior Ministry

The Vietnamese Minister congratulated Cambodia on its successful organisation of diplomatic and military - defence events during the ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2022.

This comes after the nation managed to successfully hold the Vietnam International Defence Expo 2022, with thanks given to the Ministry of National Defence and the Royal Army of Cambodia for sending high-ranking delegations to the event, Minister Giang said.

During the Vietnam - Cambodia, Cambodia - Vietnam Friendship Year 2022 that was held to mark the 55th anniversary of joint bilateral diplomatic relations on June 24, the two defence ministries co-ordinated efforts to hold a wide range of activities. This includes a celebration of 45 years since Hun Sen, now the Prime Minister of Cambodia, started the path to topple the genocidal Pol Pot regime, along with the first border defence friendship exchange between the nations, Minister Giang continued.

The Vietnamese Minister highly valued the close ties that exist between the countries’ authorities, affirming that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence continues to support and create the best possible conditions for bilateral ties moving forward. This helps to further intensify the strong bonds, traditional friendship, comprehensive co-operation, and long-term sustainability between the two sides.

In response, Cambodian Minister Ean hailed the outcomes of co-operation activities between relevant agencies of the two countries.

He also thanked the Vietnamese Ministry and Minister Giang for continually paying attention to and providing assistance to the Cambodian side.
