VOV.VN - Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba Corps General Álvaro López Miera is making an official visit to Vietnam from June 20 to June 25 at an invitation of Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang.

Immediately following the welcome ceremony held for the Cuban guests on June 22, the two sides started talks, during which Minister Giang affirmed that the Party, State, people, and People's Army of Vietnam will never forget Cuban support and assistance during its most difficult period of its struggle for national liberation, as well as in the cause of nation building.

"Vietnam will always stand shoulder to shoulder with and support Cuba on the path of building and developing a beautiful and heroic country," he said.

Corps General Miera thanked the Vietnamese side for always assisting his country, underscoring the importance of mutual relations between the two countries and the two armies.

He therefore voiced his hope that both sides will maintain and ramp up co-operation, with a particular focus on exchanging delegations at all levels and experts. He went on to affirm that he will do his utmost to contribute to deepening bilateral relations.

The two ministers consented to focus collaboration in professional experience exchanges, the defence industry, human resources training, military medicine, as well as Party and political affairs.
