Da Nang welcomes Australian navy ship for friendly visit
VOV.VN - HMAS Toowoomba of the Royal Australian Navy docked at Tien Sa Port on March 28, beginning a friendly visit to the central city of Da Nang that will run until April 1, 2026.
The ship is commanded by Commander Alicia Harrison, who also heads the delegation.
Those in attendance at the welcoming ceremony were representatives of the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs, the Naval Region 3 Command, the municipal Military Command, the municipal Border Guard Command, the Border Gate Command at Da Nang Port, the External Relations Division under Military Region 5 Command, as well as representatives from the Foreign Relations Department under the Ministry of National Defence and the Vietnam People’s Navy.
At the ceremony, representatives of Da Nang presented flowers to officers and sailors of the Australian navy ship.
The visit is designed to strengthen friendship and mutual trust between the two countries, in line with the policy to promote the Vietnam-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which was upgraded in March 2024.
During their stay in Da Nang, the ship’s command group will pay courtesy calls to leaders of the municipal People’s Committee and the Naval Region 3 Command. They will take part in professional exchanges and sports activities with officers of the Vietnam People’s Navy, hold exchanges with students of the University of Foreign Language Studies under the University of Da Nang, and visit several cultural and tourist sites in the city.
