Czech Republic greatly values traditional friendship with Vietnam
VOV.VN - President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel stated that he always treasures and appreciates the time-honoured friendship and all-around level of co-operation with Vietnam while receiving Vietnamese Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam who came to present President Vo Van Thuong's credentials in Prague on March 4.
President Pavel asked Ambassador Nam to convey his best wishes and regards to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Thuong, and other high-ranking leaders
The Czech President expressed his impression of the various important achievements that the Vietnamese side has recorded in socio-economic development and international integration after nearly 40 years of Doi moi (Reform).
He also hailed the numerous contributions made by the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic to socio-economic development in the host country, especially during the COVID-19 outbreak.
As both nations will celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties ahead in 2025, the leader suggested that the Czech Republic and Vietnam augment ties, especially in economy-trade-investment through co-ordination in carrying out the free trade agreement and the investment protection agreement between the country and the EU. This should be done whilst swiftly launching direct flights to enhance their economic-trade and tourism ties, as well as people-to-people exchanges.
Ambassador Nam thanked the Czech President for his good sentiments towards Vietnam, along with his attention to the bilateral relations and the over 100,000-strong Vietnamese community residing in the Czech Republic.
The Vietnamese Party, State, and people always consider the Czech Republic to be a leading partner in Europe, the Ambassador emphasized, pledging to serve as a bridge to contribute to taking the bilateral relationship to new heights.
